Eriochrome Black T (EBT) is a complexometric metallochromic indicator dye widely used in analytical chemistry. Belonging to the azo dye family, it is most famous for its role in EDTA titrations of calcium, magnesium, and other metal ions. In addition, it can act as a biological stain, binding to proteins and cellular components under certain conditions.

Mordant Dyes are used in organic/inorganic substances which combine with coloring matter and find usage as a fixture in production of color. Helping in depositing insoluble color on substrate like dyes with metal chelating groups, these works as assistants in dyeing process and include acids like gall nuts, tannic acid, sumac, oleic, Turkey red oil, stearic acids and others.

The other form of mordant dyes comprises constitution of metallic substances like soluble salts of iron, copper, chromium, aluminum, tin and are called metallic mordants.
